Blogging for a Trojan sports fanatic

One of the blogs I constantly check is the "All Things Trojan" blog by Adam Rose. The blog is one of the sports blogs under the Los Angeles Times. 

This blog uses a variety of techniques to keep readers informed about

Design: The blog is very simple, which is good. It doesn't have to be complicated. But it is a little text heavy. 

PROS: 

• It's black text on a white background. 
  
• Each entry usually has a picture, which catches a reader's attention. 
  
• Short entries.
• Sometimes parts of the entry are "hidden" so you can click to read more or simply move on.

CONS:

• Can be text heavy: aka no bolded words, no summaries
  
• Nothing particularly eye-catching, probably because it's part of the Times blogosphere.

Content: Frequent updates on anything related to USC sports. Lots of links.

PROS:

• Gives updates on USC teams, current players and alumni at least once a day. Game day coverage can have three updates.
• Links to other blogs and sports analysts.

CONS:

• Personally, I think it should update all the time!
  

Features: The site embeds multimedia, but it is not heavily focused on it. 

PROS:

• Who doesn't want to see video of Pete Carroll?

CONS:

• The site should try to use its unlimited Internet space to put up more pictures. 

"All Things Trojan" is an effective and interesting blog. It is designed to be informative and it does just that. 

Skimmers will likely have the hardest time on the blog, but most people who visit the site are looking for information — information that is found in the site's content. 

Still, it does have some bolded text and pictures to keep even a browser interested.
