D.C. Sports Blog is #1

For the inside scoop on all of Washington DC's professional teams, the D.C. Sports Blog is the place to go. As a staff member of the Washington Post, Dan Steinberg takes a unique perspective in examining aspects of DC's professional teams and the players on those teams that is not seen anywhere else.

What makes the D.C. Sports Blog Unique?
  • Steinberg's willingness to address any topic, no matter how miniscule it may seem to some
  • The observations are well thought out
  • Steinberg's use of sarcasm is magnificent
  • He knows his audience
Some Great Topics Steinberg has Blogged about
One of my favorite posts from Steinberg was this summer, when he acquired a picture of the pool Wizards star Gilbert Arenas was constructing in the back of his house. Arenas wanted to model the pool after the grotto, which is the famous pool at the playboy mansion. The rumor that Arenas was building this pool had been going on for sometime, so when Steinberg posted pictures of the pool on his blog it satisfied a lot of curious fans.

Another topic that Steinberg posted today was also great to read about. He posted pictures and wrote about his tour of Redskins Cornerback Fred Smoot's home. For those of us who are fans of Cribs or just like seeing how the rich and famous are living, there couldn't be a better topic to blog about.

The Real Reason I love Steinberg
As a die-hard Redskins fan (as is most of DC) Steinberg plays to our obsession with the team. I mentioned earlier that Steinberg covers all aspects of DC sports, but he also knows he has to gear his topics a little more towards the Redskins than any of the other area teams. So, for us Skins fans with DFS (according to DirecTV stands for Displaced Fan Syndrome) there's nothing like reading Steinberg's blog to get the feel of what's really on the mind of those in DC (What, there's a financial crisis? and an election coming up? All I know is the Skins are 4-1!!).
